Negligence claim for $64 million against Conrad Murray

Murray likely to face insolvency as well as jail

The Conrad Murray trial polarises opinion – some feel that he has been made a scapegoat and that Michael Jackson was headed for self destruction one way or another, others, Michael Jackson fans chiefly among them, talk and behave as though Dr Murray was a murderer.

Having been found guilty on the criminal standard of proof, it is almost certain that a civil negligence claim, with commensurate lower standard of proof, will succeed.

A claim has been started by Michael Jackson’s family for £64 million and it seems that Dr Murray’s insurance was not high enough to cover this amount and his insurance may not have covered anaesthesia also. The amount claimed is alleged to be the amount which Michael Jackson would have made from his planned tour.
